Topic: Animals

Our class is split into 2 groups for learning. Group A and Group B, to ensure that the learning is appropriate for every pupil.

  • Theme: Pets (Dog, Cat, Bird)
  • Introduction of Dog (sound, eating, care) week 1

  • B: Sound recognition – symbol matching
  • Launchpad: working in small groups
  • A: responding to sensory experiences (sound, smell, touch)

Physical and Sensory

  • Gross motor exercises on the mat 3x/week
  • Free sitting program for core strengths and functional arm movements. 1x/week
  • Fine motor tasks around the table 1xweek
  • Positioning -standing, mat time
  • Observing movements of animals, copying with adult support.
  • Art: making pictures of pets using variety of media and techniques. Making a dog house -shelter pupils painting it
  • Sensory sessions: visual, vibration, smelling-tasting, instruments, tactile: furry, feathery
