Pastoral Care and Family Support Service
Heatherwood is a small community and class teachers have the responsibility for the day-to-day welfare of those in their class. The pastoral care and work of the school is supported by Heatherwood’s Family Engagement Officer and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
The DSL plays a significant role in coordinating multi-agency input to support individual pupils and their families in the most effective way possible.
Heatherwood School offers networking opportunities to parents through coffee mornings, training sessions, open days and much more.
This work is also enhanced from support provided, as appropriate, by members of the following services:
School Nursing Team
Social Care (Children with Disabilities Team)
Doncaster and Bassetlaw Health Authority
Participation and Transition Service (P.A.T.s)
Education Welfare Service
Visual and Hearing Impaired Services
Speech and Language Therapists
Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
