Autumn Term

Topic: Enterprising Ideas!

Community Inclusion

Our community visits this term will include:

Lakeside shopping centre, Tesco Supermarket, Asda Supermarket, Walkers Nurseries

We will be practising:

- Developing appropriate social skills whilst out in the community.

- We will be working on understanding and being part of the wider community and making requests using preferred methods of communication in the wider community and in a variety of contexts.

Independent Living

This term in Independent Living, we will be focusing on basic cooking and communication skills.

We will practice these skills by taking part in weekly cooking sessions, following clear routines in cooking activities.  We will also be practising this daily, through our breakfast routines, following routines, including cooking and clearing up.  We will also be using our independent living skills to purchase items in the shops for baking and for snacks.

Towards Employment

Our topic texts this term are: Enterprise story, A day in the life of a Vet and Nurse.

In our maths sessions, we will be working on number, pattern and shape. We have a weekly rotation of maths activities, each day we focus on a particular area of maths, such as time (now/next) or number.

We will be developing our communication by communicating preferences through reaching out for or indicating preferred items or stimuli.  Pupils will be engaging with purpose with those things they like, or showing that they no longer want to engage with items, indicating ‘finished’.

Health

To support our mental health this term, we will focus our art activities for this season, creating art linked to Harvest Festival, Autumn and fireworks.

To develop our social skills this term we will work in groups and pairs when completing work, supporting engagement with our peers. We will also take part in social trips within the community with our peers.

This term we have Simon for music which we are very excited about. We will play a variety of instruments and engage with a variety of call and response songs with Simon.
