  • Harvest Festival

    Pastor Les joined the Heatherwood Community on Monday, 29th September for our Harvest Festival.  The focus of this celebration was on the importance of sharing, saying thank you to each other and for the food which we eat.

  • Jeans for Genes Day - 17th September 2025

    On Wednesday, 17th September 2025 pupils and staff wore their jeans to school in order to raise awareness for the Jeans for Genes charity. The pupils also took the opportunity to design their own jeans! Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us raise £60 for the charity.

    Welcome back to school! It was lovely to see everyone again after the summer break. 

    Please remember to label your child's property (clothing, bag, drinks bottle etc), and to only send snacks to school which are nut-free.

    Please remember it is the responsibility of Parents/ Carers to contact Transport in any of the following circumstances:

    • When there are any changes to your child’s attendance, such as absence from school.

    • If you have a new wheelchair (as a new risk assessment will be required).

    • If the bus does not turn up.

  • Summer Holiday Club

    Between the 18th and 21st August 2025, Heatherwood held a Summer Holiday Club where pupils took part in a wide range of engaging activities designed to spark joy, build friendships, and support personal growth. Highlights included an Art Therapy Workshop with Andy, Makaton Sing and Sign with Rachel, and Dance Sessions with Anj.

    Thank you to all of the Heatherwood staff who made hosting the club possible. You are all amazing.

  • Anne-Marie's Fundraising Adventure

    Congratulations to Anne-Marie and her husband who participated in a canoeing adventure over the summer holidays. They paddled for 100 miles across the Highlands of Scotland and have raised over £1000 for Heatherwood School Funds. Thank you both so much, and well done on this amazing achievement.

  • Thank you to Roger Tuby and Son Funfairs

    A huge thank you to the Tuby Family who invited Heatherwood pupils (and students from several other Nexus schools) to visit their funfair free of charge on 19th August 2025. A brilliant day was had by everyone who attended.

  • Heatherfest 2025

    The school hosted their second Heatherfest event on Friday, 18th July 2025. This year was even bigger and better with more local bands, PMLD yoga, face painting, dancing and of course ice-cream! It was lovely to see so many parents and carers supporting the event, and also pupils from Coppice and Northridge schools in attendance. Everyone had a great time and showed their festival spirit.

  • Wonderdome Experience

    Students were able to experience spectacular images of space when the WonderDome mobile planetarium came to Heatherwood on 16th July 2025. WonderDome pride themselves on offering "a very inclusive and flexible experience, providing educational provision for all." Their "sensory shows are a soothing experience with gentle music as the shapes and colours of the Universe dance around the WonderDome."

  • Pyjama Day!

    On Wednesday, 16th July 2025, staff and pupils came to school in their pyjamas! During the day, pupils participated in a range of relaxing activities, including experiencing the Wonderdome. The day raised £70 towards school funds. Thank you to those who made donations.
