Early Years

Welcome to Early Years Class

The Early Years Class Teacher is John Trickett

What we are learning in the Spring Term:

Pets / Animals and their homes; and we will also look at aspects of seasonal changes: winter/spring.

Class texts:

Dear Zoo, Monkey Puzzle, Norman the Sill Slug

We will continue to:

As part of our Early Years Topic in the Spring Term; we will be exploring our topic: Pets as well as looking at Animals and their homes, and exploring aspects of the seasonal changes we see in the world around us. To do this we will use a blend of fun based interactive sessions where we will build on our interests and skills through play based exploratory learning to develop our engagement and our ability to actively learn, create and to think critically. We will use sensory sessions, music, art, messy play and the great outdoors, as well as switches and intensive interaction to enable us to communicate, make choices and have fun with our friends.

This will link to the exciting Science Week planned for the 21st to 25th March where we will have visitors from Austerfield and Sam’s Safari. Our students will learn about the animals and how they feel, as well as make some animal homes for our wildlife garden.

We will also try to get out and see some places locally and go habitat hunting in the local area, as well as continue to access our own school outside learning spaces; our sensory garden and especially the wildlife garden. If any parent wishes to take their child out searching for wildlife and their habitats that would be wonderful especially if you can share some photographs and information about what you find. We would also love to see any photographs of any family pets so that we can share these in class.
